Fuji Festival

Niigata-shi (新潟市,) is the capital and the most populous city of Niigata Prefecture, Japan. The city is sometimes called the “City of Water”(水の都 Mizu-no-miyako) because of the two rivers that flow through it. Probably you’re wondering why I’m writing about a city located in a region called Chūbu (which means “central region”) in the middle of Japan. Well Fuji Rock Festival, an annual rock festival, will be held in Naeba Ski Resort, in Niigata Prefecture, Japan on the 24th, 25th, 26th of July. This 3 days event features about 250 Japanese and international musicians every year, making it the largest outdoor music event in Japan. What I like about this annual festival It’s the fact that the organizers proudly calls the event as “the cleanest festival in the world, promising clean toilets and showers, and no litter” Nice :)

Really well organized, they asking you to remember: Independence’, ‘Cooperation’ and ‘Respect of nature’ are the keys to fully enjoy this festival. Let’s do it together! ( Their Slogan).

This year the festival is featuring Oasis, Franz Ferdinand and Weezer. The Per-date lineup announced Dove, ASA-CHANG & JUNREI, BRAHMAN, DJ TIM HEALEY. For further details about the Fuji festival, line up and Various tour packages click Here .

This is the official Poster for the festival: :)

As you may know by now, Red Hot Chilly Pepper have disbanded for at least a year according Anthony Kiedis’s declaration to Rollins Stone last week, so It’s a good moment to show here this short Intro at the Fuji Rock 2006, hope you like it.

Isle of Wight Festival 2009 (summer festival)

May 23, 2009 by admin

It was held from 1968 to 1970 and by far the largest and famous of these early festivals. Acts at the 1970 festival played to a crowd of around half a million people and indeed it was said to be one of the largest human gatherings in the world. Included in the line-up of over fifty performers were The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, The Doors, Ten Years After, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Joni Mitchell, The Moody Blues, Melanie, Donovan, Free, Chicago, Richie Havens, John Sebastian, Leonard Cohen, Jethro Tull and more. Probably we need to mention that the unexpectedly high attendance levels was consequence mostly of non-tickets holders and a price tickets for the four days of £3 only ( 4,70$ Today), but that It’s another story. Today the Isle of Wight Festival 2009 is in just 20 days and It’s gathering more than 60 bands this year. This is the line-up for this year :) :

This is the line-up for the Big Top:

For further details just visit Here, and yes…. they have got a twitter account as well ..  :)

The mix of legendary names and new talent for which the festival has become renowned since it’s resurrection in 2001 makes me love It. I don’t have enough time to review all these amazing bands, therefore I have decided to dedicate part of this post to PIXIES. Ohh Wait .. Where is my mind???.

Although Pixies produced relatively few albums, they had a great influence on the alternative rock boom of the 1990s and won several awards from music publications and local music awards. My favorite album is Surfer Rosa, released on May 21, 1988 and recorded at Q-Division in Boston, Massachusetts in 1987. The single from this album called “Where Is My Mind?” was prominently featured during the final scene and ending credits of the 1999 film Fight Club, which I love as well. This song was written by Black Francis (front-man) and inspired by his experiences scuba diving in the Caribbean.

I have found this footage from the David Fincher Film Fight Club on YouTube, courtesy of DarkSkanner …  I hope you like it. :D

Benicassim 2009

FBI Heineken have confirmed yesterday the line up for Benicassim 2009. The Spain’s biggest indie Music festival plays host each summer to more than 100 artists who come to perform across its 4 stages.  This year is particularly special for me since one of my favorite Band “TV On The Radio” Will be sharing the stage with “The Killers” and  “White Lies”.

Kings Of Leon make a welcome return to the hugely popular Spanish bash, and are joined by some heavyweights headliners. People making the flight over can expect Oasis, Franz Ferdinand and Paul Weller. :)

The Benicassim Festival takes place between 13th and 21st July 2009, with music from Thu July 16th 2009.

It’s an unmissable event….. further details Here

TV On The Radio the American band formed in 2001 in New York City will be on stage on Sunday 19th and as they mention once: “A lot of bands have something to say,” explains TV On The Radio producer/multi-instrumentalist David Sitek. “We have something to ask.”

Buzzfest tickets 2009

March 21, 2009 by admin

BuzzFest Tickets 2009 go on sale today. The event is on May 10 and acts include KORN, Blue October, 311, Theory of a Deadman, Hoobastank, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and  a mystery guest that is sure to please, but you have to get your tickets and wait till the event to find out who it is!  :)

This music festival held in Houston @ Woodlands Pavilion Spring, TX  US,  and  It’s a bi-annual show hosted by the radio Station 94.5 The Buzzzzzzzz.

Buzzfest not only allows bands to get their big break but always draws in some of the top bands in the Alternative genre every year. Though Alternative has certainly changed since the first festival.  Genres ranging from Grunge to Nu-Metal and beyond, but no brand of music has flourished on the stage like the Post-Grunge style. Newly arrived styles like Indie Rock have recently made a big mark at Buzzfest.  :)

My rock alternative preference goes to 311, a band formed in 1988 which musical structure incorporates a variety of musical styles including alternative rock, Hip hop, ska, reggae and Funk.
